With the help of a veterinary internist, Dr. Man demonstrates how we performed an endoscopy on Bella ! Bella is a cat who suffers from chronic vomiting, weight loss, and intermittent diarrhea. Pets sometimes have a condition that’s difficult to diagnose without actually examining an internal organ or obtaining a biopsy or tissue sample. While this can be accomplished with surgery, endoscopy provides a less invasive alternative. During this procedure a veterinarian inserts an endoscope, a tubular instrument with a small camera and light at one end, into an opening of the body. Endoscopy can provide a minimally invasive way to help diagnose & distinguish gastrointestinal conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) from certain types of cancers such as gastrointestinal lymphoma. This procedure helps us with a diagnosis, prognosis, & directs us to the best treatment plan to help our patients !
